JetJat Ultra Full Review

Posted by Payton Wilmott On Thursday, September 8, 2016 0 comments

So, recently my lifelong dream came through. I know it might sound sad, but I never had/owned or played with any RC device or toy. Not even the living room TV had a remote when I was growing up; yes, humble begins. Anyhow, I had the JetJat Ultra for two weeks at my full disposal. Truth be told, the review should have been done in one week, but I was having too much fun, and I lost track of time.
What is this tiny little thing?

Well the JetJat Ultra is the world’s smallest video drone. This lovely device is compact, and pretty durable. The list of features that this small/tiny aka “stiny” drone has is a really extensive one.

Outstanding Features:

  • Auto Hover
  • 360 Aerial Flips
  • Video Recording and Photo
  • Wifi Video Streaming
So in short the JetJat Ultra by MOTA is a tiny inexpensive drone that is packed with useful features.

How Does It Work?

All you need to know is listed out in the Quick Start guide booklet that’s included in the JETJAT Ultra package.

Stuff Like:

  • Locking the controller to the drone
  • One button take off and landing
  • How to do aerial flips (Which are fun to do)
  • Controlling the rev speeds for the motors
  • How to do videos and take photos

Who is it for?

Honestly, I thought flying these things would be easier. The learning curve is steep, but the JetJat Ultra tries to lessen that slope by adding auto hover, and one touch take off and landing. The JetJat Ultra is the well needed stepping stone for persons planning to become professionals doing drone photography and videoing. It spells no sense learning your drone flying skills on a $1,000US drone that you’ll have to sell your innards to fix if you break it.
 Final Thoughts

I love the JetJat Ultra. It’s well built, durable, and it is plenty of fun to use. I wish it had a longer fly time than 2 minutes and 30 seconds (Yup, I actually checked it), but it’s workable. After a month with this, I think I’m going to try my hands on a bigger, badder professional drone from MOTA like the GIGA – 8000 or the Pro Live – 5000. Then I can do some real amazing videos for my YouTube channel and blog.  If you wanted a more visual review of the JetJat Ultra you can check out the video below.

Smartness Disguised as a Watch…

Posted by Payton Wilmott On 0 comments

Jah know, mi keep trying to contain the real Jamaican in me when mi a do reviews and such elegant tings, but I can’t hold it back fi this review. The Huawei Watch is soo good that mi have to start talking broken/pop dung English fi express mi elation for this product. The Huawei Watch is one of those devices that just stands out and screams “Mi Fleek!”. Ok, let me stop using words I don’t know cause “Fleek” could mean a lot of things. Anyhow, I spent a couple weeks with this device and I WANT ONE. Now the begging starts, because mi must get one before Christmas. So, why am I soooo fascinated with the Huawei Watch??? Well, it all started when this lovely device landed on my review desk.
Wait, Huawei Makes Watches Now?

Yes, Huawei is known to most as a Smartphone manufacturer that offers lovely phones for the broke man with good specifications. The Huawei Watch though… isn’t for the poor man at all; thus my begging marathon to get one. The watch is made with quality material at a price that is higher than most smart watches on the market today. The specification for this smart watch is way above what most smart watch competitors are offering; don’t believe me just take a look below:

Standout Specs:

  • 1.4-inch AMOLED display
  • 400 x 400 pixel resolution
  • Android Wear
  • Optical heart-rate sensor
  • Stainless-steel body
  • Sapphire Crystal glass screen

The Huawei Watch is also the first Android Wear wearable from Huawei. This being there first watch clearly show that they are serious about their smart watch line, and out for blood.

Lots of Expensive Parts!

Huawei placed a lot of emphasis in the department of build quality. I have reviewed the Gear 2, Gear S, Gear S2 and they all fall below the build quality that the Huawei Watch has to offer. Everything on this device screams “Real Rich”. The metal links on the watch band, the sapphire crystal glass screen that protects the watch, no wonder it costs an arm, leg, and your left nut too. I wore this for two weeks, and got some… no scratch that… I got nuff woman phone number because the smart watch. Also had some accidental collisions with walls and grills, but the Huawei Watch kept ticking without a scratch.

Is It For Me?

If the watch is big, daunting, and futuristic on my hands aka “female repellant”; then you won’t see me wearing it even if you paid me. The Huawei Watch is different and keeps everything looking similar to watches that we grew up seeing before watches had cameras, heart rate monitors, and Bluetooth. If you are like me and wish to dabble in technology by having your contacts, emails, and notifications at an arm’s length, then this is the smart watch for you.

Final Thoughts

I have nothing more to say expect… Huawei please sponsor me with a black, fully metal smart watch please. You can have my left nut… I only need one.

A Budget Phone At It's Best..

Posted by Payton Wilmott On Thursday, March 31, 2016 0 comments

It seems that Digicel is geared towards keeping the DL line of phones up to date with new iteration ever so often. Who would have thought that years later we would have newer models being produced? This week we bring to you the full review DL 1000.

DL 1000 Specification as “listed on the Box”

  • OS Android 5.1 Lollipop
  • Quad Core 1.3GHz Processor
  • 13MP Rear Camera
  • 8MP Front Camera
  • 5.5’’ Touch screen display
  • 1GB Of RAM
  • 8 GB (ROM) of internal Storage
  • Battery: 2910 mAh

The box information on the DL1000 seems to have improved since the DL900. The essential information that most users and potential buyers want to see are now projected right at the side of the box. Just one small problem though. One of the specifications above isn’t technically true. So here I go again digging for the truth… The truth is that the DL1000 has 8GB of internal storage but the user is only allowed to utilize 4GB of that space.
Build Quality and Design

The DL1000 looks and feels wonderful in the hands. It’s pretty slim for a DL phone and very light compared to phones in its size category. Also, the DL1000 is the first Digicel phone we have seen that doesn’t have a removable battery. It still comes with your standard memory card slot which is a relief these days. The construction is all plastic like it siblings DL900 and DL800 which is a given at its approximate $13,000 price point.
Camera Quality

The DL1000 has an 8MP front camera which is amazing to see in a budget Smartphone. The front camera takes decent photos but there is room for improvement, and the rear 13MP camera performs similarly too. The phone also comes with a flash and handles pictures in the dark or poorly lit areas pretty well. The only problem I find with the DL1000 camera is the delay in taking the photo and the actually processing of the photo. This delay will make it difficult for anyone to take quick photos on the go. These quick photo shots usually come out looking blurry most of the times.  That being said, it should also be mentioned that the camera isn’t able to record videos in HD. The phone uses 3GP as the file format for the videos recorded. The only quality adjustment you can make is between fine, high, medium, and low.
Performance

It doesn’t get any better than this for Digicel phones. The DL1000 is by far the best performing phone in the DL line up. I know I have said this before, but this has out done the DL900 and taken the crown. It is considerable faster than the DL900 in games and all other categories.  Also, it doesn’t have that limited amount of internal storage which plagues the DL900 and DL800. Thus I was able to fit FIFA 16 on it, Implosion – Never Lose Hope, and Candy Crush with no storage problem.
Display

Everyone needs a decent screen to look at on the go, and the DL1000 screen is a beautiful thing to look at. The DL1000 has a 720p display that will blow your mind when you see how sharp and colorful it is. Your smart phone should be the one stop for movies, games and pictures and the DL1000 does an awesome job in all categories. I was most impressed with the clarity and vibrant colors of the DL1000.
Outstanding Features

We all know by now that the DL750 and DL800 have a TV function that makes you watch local stations. Well the DL1000 has a radio, and a pretty nifty feature in the camera called time lapse. This feature lets you video record a long moment in time and view it back in mere minutes. So it’s possible to record the sun rising and save it as 10 minute video. Also, the navigation buttons are backlit to alleviate use in the dark.
Finally Thoughts

The DL lines of phones have grown considerable since their conception, so much so that their only competitor is themselves. The DL1000 just made the competition harder… Now the hot topic will be should I buy the DL800, DL900 or the DL1000? We can’t answer that question, but we can say that the DL 1000 gives you your money’s worth.
