Oppo is working on a successor of the A73 smartphone, unsurprisingly named Oppo A74. The device has a model number CPH2219 and has been certified at multiple organizations, including the FCC, the Bureau of Indian Standards, TKDN in Indonesia, the Eurasian Economic Commission, Wi-Fi Alliance, among others. Oppo F17 Pro All the listings gave us a sneak peek of the specs sheet. Multiple certifications confirmed the Oppo A74 will have Android 10 out of the box, likely with ColorOS 7 on top. Thanks to the China Quality Certification, for example, we have also learned the new phone...

Top 10 trending phones of week 8

Posted by Payton Wilmott On 0 comments

The Samsung Galaxy F62 only lasted a week on top of our trending chart with the newly introduced Redmi K40 Pro+ shooting straight to the top and pushing it down to second. Another new phone - the 4G version of the Galaxy A32 - completes the podium, pushing its high-flying Galaxy S21 Ultra sibling down to fourth. The Samsung Galaxy A12 is fifth, ahead of the Xiaomi Mi 11 and the vanilla Redmi K40. We then have the Galaxy M62 in eight with the Poco M3 in ninth. The third member of the new Redmi lineup - the K40 Pro completes the top 10, meaning we have five phones from Xiaomi and...

Oppo Enco X TWS Earphones Review

Posted by Payton Wilmott On 0 comments

Oppo is mainly known for its smartphones, but the company has been slowly expanding its portfolio of audio products. Oppo launched a bunch of wireless earphones last year, including the Enco X that reached Indian shores just this year, and we have with us today. The Oppo Enco X are packed to the brim as they come with touch controls, noise cancellation, wireless charging, and IP54 rating. They also support LHDC - an advanced Bluetooth audio codec - and are claimed to offer up to 25 hours of battery life. While all that sure looks impressive on paper, do the Enco X perform equally well...

Let's take a look back on the final week of February, which was a fairly busy one. Samsung announced that going forward it will offer at least 4 years of security updates to all smartphones launched after 2019. That huge list includes the Z, S, Note, A, M, XCover and Tab series. Xiaomi announced the Redmi K40 series. The Redmi K40, K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ all have 6.7-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED displays with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate and all four have a 4,520mAh battery with 33W charging that will bring 100% charge in 52 minutes. Over the past few years we've watched smartphone chipsets go from having a lonely CPU core to having ten. Display resolutions broke the HD barrier and currently top out at 4K. But progress has slowed down on both the chipset and display fronts. High refresh rate displays made things exciting again for a while, but that excitement is dying down too. Cameras, however, seem to keep getting better and better (and more numerous). And more often than not they are the reason to upgrade before your old phone is on its last legs. A Snapdragon 855 may be a couple of years old at this point, but it's...

Xiaomi unveiled three Redmi K40 phones earlier this week. Or did it? If you look at just the screen and camera, there’s only one phone. If you look at the chipset, there are two phones. And if you look at the cameras, there are three phones. That may sound like a magic trick, but a quick run through the specs should clear things up. Redmi K40 series highlight features and differences in infographic form All three K40 phones use the same 6.67” Super AMOLED display (an E4 panel). Weekly poll results: the Samsung Galaxy F62 could be a hit, if its price drops

Posted by Payton Wilmott On Saturday, February 27, 2021 0 comments

The Samsung Galaxy F62 became available in India on Monday, then a few days later it became clear that the model will go global under the M62 name. Samsung Thailand even listed all the official specs for the M-series variation (unsurprisingly, it’s a carbon copy). We don’t know the worldwide pricing, but in India the F62 starts at INR 24,000 ($330/€270). Which, judging by last week’s poll, is a bit too high for comfort – most voters like the phone, but they think it’s a bit too pricey. Some forward-looking individuals pointed out that the resale value of a 4G phone will be lower than that...

Samsung Galaxy A02s in for review

Posted by Payton Wilmott On 0 comments

Say hello to the Samsung Galaxy A02s, an entry level phone that aims to deliver a decent smartphone experience at a €150 price point. The Galaxy A20s is well made and feels good in the hand. It comes with a cable and a 15W charger, which is more than you get with a Galaxy S21-series phone these days. We do regret the omission of a case, but at these prices it's no surprise. The back of the phone has a stylish prism finish, which captures the light and reflects in different shades. It's also textured, which lends the phone a comfortable grip. The Galaxy A02s also has all the...
