Last week Redmi India teased a photo of Lei Jun and Manu Kumar Jain, both senior Xiaomi executives, with the new Redmi Note 7. The tweet said the "48 MP head-turner is arriving soon", and according to sources, we have a launch date. It will be February 12, and the event will take place in New Delhi, India. The source does not reveal much aside from an invite that says "The time has come". It also mentions "Redmi Smartphone Launch", and we would be fools to expect anything but the latest smartphone. Lu Weibing, Redmi CEO, is already teasing the Redmi Note 7 Pro, so it would be...

The latest Samsung Galaxy S10 leak is reportedly an official render of the Galaxy S10+ (the largest variant). The render comes from 91Mobiles and OnLeaks so we could very well be looking at the real deal. This render is in line with other CAD renders we've previously seen down to the placement of the front camera and a triple camera system in the back - that is, if you count the first render, the one that had three cameras and not four. The calendar date on a render is normally something significant and seeing how the event is going to take place on February 20, we might speculate that...

Apple offers enterprise certificates to large companies like Google and Facebook for the purpose of distributing apps internally, amongst the companys' employees that facilitate their jobs. One of the rules of this certificate is that enterprises should not use it to distribute apps to consumers. Both Google and Facebook were identified as companies doing this and while Facebook's certificate was revoked yesterday (and has very recently been reinstated), Apple pulled the rug under Google today when it did the same thing. Regardless of whether Apple intended to act on Google so abruptly,...

February is just around the corner and we're still trying to put together all the rumors surrounding the three supposed Galaxy S10 variants. Today, some new information first discovered by Nashville Chatter reveals that Anatel, Brazil's National telecom agency, certified three devices by their model names and their battery sizes. The devices in question are labeled EB-BG970ABU, EB-BG973ABU, and EB-BG975ABU. The more important part of these model numbers are the middle four letters, which denote the three alleged Galaxy S10 variants. Each variant will have 3,000 mAh, 3,300 mAh, and 4,000...

Asus has started rolling out the Android 9 Pie update for the Zenfone 5z. The update is being rolled out over the air in batches, so not all users will get the update immediately. It's also not yet available for download on Asus' website to flash manually, so you will have to wait a bit longer for that. For now, you can just keep mashing the check update button repeatedly on your phone over the next several days till you get the update. As for changes, there are no specific details given besides what you can otherwise expect from Android 9 Pie itself. Thanks Erick, for sending...

The Redmi Note 7 arrived earlier this month with a 48 MP camera with a Samsung ISOCELL sensor. Rumors suggested another edition, this time with the Sony IMX586 sensor, is on its way, and the phone will be called Redmi Note 7 Pro. Today, another hint about the upcoming device popped up online. Lu Weibing, Redmi CEO, asked fans what do they want from the Redmi Note 7 Pro, and one fan said: "Omit the 3/32 GB version, go straight for 6/64 GB or 6/128 GB". Of all the replies, this exact one was reposted later by Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO, suggesting that it might be onto something. The...

Schubert wrote two movements of his Symphony No. 8 back in 1822, but left it unfinished. Huawei has decided that 197 years of waiting is long enough and has tapped into the AI powers of the Mate 20 Pro to deliver the final two movements. The dual NPU of the phone was used to analyze the timbre, pitch and meter of the existing movements in order to generate a melody for the next two. That melody was then used by Emmy award-winning composer Lucas Cantor to arrange an orchestral score. The finished symphony will be performed live at Cadogan Hall in London on February 4. Until then, here's...

We've learned some fresh details about Android's next version thanks to some APK tinkering by 9to5Google. First off is the obvious - Android Q will indeed be numbered Android 10, just like Android P was 9 and O was 8. Android Q will also bring native support for more elaborate facial recognition, likely to natively accommodate sensors like the iPhone XS' infrared camera, dot projector and flood illuminators. The facial recognition setup menu will be similar to that of the fingerprint scanner and will be separate from the current trusted face menu. Android Q will also gain native screen...

The Pocophone F1 isn't afraid to challenge flagships and the latest battle is over camera quality. Based on the DxOMark score, it's as good as the iPhone 8 - a phone that costs twice as much (at least). The still camera delivers pleasing colors and accurate exposure along with a fast and accurate autofocus. It got a score of 91. That could have been higher if the second camera did better - bokeh rendering was poor and it offers no assistance in the dark or when zooming. And the main camera does need help in the dark, despite the excellent flash. The video camera once again nails it...
