The "U" in USB stands for "universal". The port has certainly lived up to its name, it's the default way to deliver data and power to electronic devices. In fact, USB-C is just about the only port used on new Macs (other than an ironic 3.5mm headphone jack) and it's definitely the only port on the new iPad Pros. The path to this wonderful land of "one port to rule them all" is littered with the remains of many proprietary standards. Today we'll be looking at a few of them.
