This week we continue to clear my desk for the coming
holidays, and the victim on the groping table is the Nuqleo Zinq 7 3G. If you
spotted the 3G at the end of the product name you’ll realize that it uses
mobile data service which means it uses mobile SIM cards. The surprises don’t
stop there folks there is much more, so let’s get to it.
What should we call it?
The Nuqleo Zinq 7 3G is way too big to be called a phone or
a phablet, but it has an ear piece speaker and a microphone to be used as a
phone. So we can’t call it a 7 inch tablet either. To better understand this
abomination of a device we had to turn to the specification sheet which reads a
little bit like this.
- Processor: 1.3GHz, dual core
- Operating system: Android ™ 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
- Internal Memory: RAM 1GB DDR3 and ROM 8.0GB
- Expandable memory: Supports up to 32GB with micro SD card slot
- Display: 7 inches with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels
- Radio
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
- Camera: Front 0.3 MP/Back 2.0MP
Unfortunately the specification sheet didn’t help us to
understand what this device was, so we are going to continue calling it the
abomination.
Setup Of The Abomination
The set up process is kind of tricky given the fact that
your first boot up of the device is in Spanish. If you know your way around the
Android OS this won’t be a problem for you to rectify. Just find the language
setting in settings and change it to English. The next trickster in set up is
finding the SIM card and memory card slots. They are located under the back
cover that covers the camera module. Taking off this cover is a delicate
process since you wouldn’t want to break the clips that hold the cover in
place
A Week With The Abomination
If you’re looking to make yourself the center of attention
then I would recommend using the abomination as phone. Putting a 7 inch device
to your face for calls will certainly draw a crowd, and a lot of questions
afterwards. To be honest I kind of liked the attention, since it was a great
way to get females to talk me. The call quality was ok and the device ability
to use 2 separate SIM cards at once was very handy. The battery life wasn’t stellar
to say the least, but it was immediately acceptable once I saw the price the
abomination was being sold for. The abomination retails for around 18,000
dollar which amazing considering the size screen and phone feature you are
getting with the device.
Final Thoughts
On a serious note folks the Nuqleo Zinq is a ok device for
the cost, but at 7 inch the device is too big to be used as your everyday phone
so use it as a tablet… please! The products mentioned in this article were

Folks, I am sorry for taking so long on releasing this blog, but managing my YouTube Channel and this blog is real time consuming. I am trying my best to juggle the two as best as possible, but I had some major video editing to do and uploads on my channel which took me longer than I expected. Anyhow… It’s a month away from Christmas and this is the most
hectic time for me. I have got stacks of devices on my desk
to review. My work cut out for me till the holidays finish. Let’s
cut this stack down by reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S (Tab S).
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S is an android tablet that has all,
and I repeat, the entire main feature you would find on a Galaxy S5. The only
difference is this is an 8.4-inch tablet while the Galaxy S5 is much smaller.
The Tab S shares many of the design pointers
from the Galaxy S5 as well like the soft-touch dot-effect back and physical
home button on the front which doubles as a finger print scanner, a fantastic
high resolution display, and an Octa-Core processor with 3GB of RAM. The whole
device is governed by the latest Android 4.4 KitKat software; well the latest
as of now is the Android Lollipop OS, but that explanation can be saved for
another time.
What more do you need?
The truth about new devices these days are the improvements
are not visual at all. It’s always… more memory this or more processor that or
bigger screen this. None of which is really relevant to the consumer, but the
Tab S has all that and a bit more. What does the Tab S offer that you can’t
find on another Android tablet? I present to you 3 points on that topic.
- A Super AMOLED 1600 x 2560 pixels display that is ideal for reading texts or watching movies.
- An 8 megapixel camera with flash to take photos in the night.
- A finger print scanner that allows you to unlock your device using your own biometrics.
Final Thoughts
For a price tag that’s around $60,000JMD; the Samsung Galaxy
Tab S isn’t the cheapest android tablet I have seen, but with such great craftsmanship and attention to detail I can honestly say it may be one of the
few android tablets that will withstand the test of time. The products

Electronic devices are becoming more expensive than house
whole appliances. If you went out and invested into a device so expensive then
it’s logical to spend a little extra to protect your investment. This week I’ll
share with you the does and don’ts of cleaning a LCD or LED screen whether it’s
on a phone, tablet, TV, UHD TV, or laptop.
Cleaning Your Expensive Stuffs 101
First off, What Not
To Do
- Don’t use ethyl alcohol, acetone, toluene, ethyl acid, ammonia, or methyl chloride these chemicals will damage your display. So, don’t wonder anymore why your touch screen stopped working on your phone.
- Always use a clean cloth, because tiny hard particles can get trapped in cloth fibers and leave scratches after use.
- DO NOT use Windex or other glass cleaners! These generally contain ammonia and will spoil your LCD screen
- Do not use paper towels. They leave behind tiny bits of paper that will mess up your display.
- Avoid using pipe water when cleaning your LCD or LED screen; they usually have minerals that can damage the screen.
So What Can You
Use To Clean Your Expensive Stuff?
Well folks you have two options if you’re planning to clean
your device properly. There is the simply way or the hard somewhat technical
way. Although, my friends call it cheap, poor man way and the normal way.
Option” A”
The Hard Somewhat Technical
Way
You can make your own clean solutions with these steps. Just
buy distilled water then mix it with a specific cleaning agent. The two most
popular cleaning agents for homemade solutions are isopropyl alcohol and white
vinegar. The choice comes down to personal preference, as both are effective at
removing strong grunge. Avoid mixing the two though; just choose one stick with
it. When using isopropyl alcohol, don’t use more than a 50/50 mix with
distilled water. If you’re using vinegar, start with a 50/50 mix and add more
vinegar if the solution isn’t strong enough. Vodka can work as a replacement
for isopropyl alcohol. Plain Vodka folks, not the flavored ones you all been drinking.
Then use it with a non-abrasive cloth
like a Microfiber Cloth, a Cotton T-shirt, or a Cotton handkerchief.
Option “B”
The Simply Way
Go out and buy a good LCD/LED screen cleaner if you are not
a chemist and can’t handle option “A”. I emphases the word good, because they
are some out there that is worst than throwing gasoline on your screen. If had
to recommend one right now, I would go with WHOOSH! which cost around $1,000 for the small package or you can
go large if you have the money. Yes, I said it right. The name is WHOOSH! and it comes with a cleaning
cloth and solution. It worked wonders for my laptop and it helps resist
fingerprint smudges on smart phones too.
Final Thoughts
I clean my devices weekly, because dirty screens are just
gross, and the phone screen is going in your face daily! The products mentioned

Sometimes I wonder if I’m the one moving slow or is it
technology moving real fast. I could have sworn I did the Digicel DL600 phone
review less than a year. Now here we are two generations of Digicel phones
later with the Digicel DL750. What does this offer that the DL600 doesn’t have?
Let's
fist start off by highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the DL750.
Strong Points
- Device comes with the latest version on android preinstalled 4.4.1 KitKat.
- The TFT LCD display on this device is vibrant.
- The device come packaged with a screen protector and an extra battery cover.
- The case and build quality of the DL750 is just as sturdy as the DL600.
- The DL750 supports Digicel's 4G and provides remarkable download and upload speeds.
- This Device can also be used as a mobile internet Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices.
- The camera now comes with a flash to take photos at night.
- The DL750 has 1GB of RAM which means multitasking will be much better than what you would get on the DL600.
Weak Points
- The camera still needs to be worked on, but it’s much improved than the DL600.
- The three main menu buttons for Android (Back, Home and Recent Apps) are not back lit. So finding them in the dark is a challenge for new users. This is the same problem I had with the DL600 and it hasn’t been addressed.
- The protective screen over the display is not hard enough to withstand much force. If persons are not careful they will end up with a crushed or cracked display.
Is This For You?
For persons looking for a video explaining some key points of the Digicel DL750... When you find it, tell me... lol. But seriously, watch the 20 minute video below of me feeling up the Digicel DL750 extensively or you can continue reading. Lots of option here today folks.
- What's App
- FaceBook (Built-In App)
- Twitter (Built-In App)
- Live Wallpapers (Built-In App)
- Video Wallpapers (Built-In App)
- Trials Frontier
- Smash Hit
- Mobile TV (Built-In App)
- Candy Crush Saga
The shocker that Digicel fail to advertise is that this
phone has a mobile TV app that actually works!
It uses the earphones as the antenna, and you will be able to view your
local TV station with ease.
Final Thought
Given
the price of the DL750, I can safely say that it's a budget Smartphone that is
better than all blackberries out there, again. Although, if persons are looking
for something more tantalizing on a specification sheet then I would recommend
the Samsung Galaxy S5 or S4, but deeeep pockets are recommended if you are
going that route. The product mentioned in this article was provided courtesy
of Digicel.

On October 16, 2014 I had the pleasure of being at the
launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 at the Samsung Experience Store in Tropical
Plaza. The event was for the Samsung Note 4, Samsung Gear S, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy
Tab S which in my possession to do a full review on, but more on that next
week. So today we have for you my impressions for all devices introduced at the
launch last week.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4
So, what are the things you’ll see when you pick up the Note
4?
- A beautiful and sharp which is expected since it’s a higher resolution than 1080P.
- Most of the widgets are transparent on the Note 4 to help make the home wallpaper visible.
- As you pick up the device you’ll feel the built quality difference between it and the Note3. That metal frame and new textured back cover makes a big difference in the hands.
- You’ll see that the camera is now 16 mega pixel instead of the 13 that was in the Note 3. Also the option of UHD video recording.
Note 4 vs Note 3 |
The Gear S
The Gear S screams change as soon as you pick it up.
Gear S |
- The display is certainly bigger than Gear 2 and curved as well.
- There is no camera on the device to take photos or videos.
- There is a SIM card slot located on the back to change the watch into a fully functioning mobile phone.
Gear S vs Gear 2 |
Samsung Galaxy Alpha
This is a new line of phone introduced by Samsung.
- The first thing you’ll notice is how sturdy it looks and feels. The metal frame and the small unique designed is what contributes to this thought.
- The heart rate monitor and flash are positioned differently compared to the other Samsung phones that have them.
- The user interface looks similarly to the Galaxy S5.
- You can tell that the screen has a lower resolution than the Galaxy S5, but it’s still leagues a head of phones in its weight class.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S
The Tab S shouldn’t be confused with the Tab Pro or the
regular Tab.Galaxy Tab S 10 inch Variant |
- The display is gorgeous!
- The first tablet you’ll see with a finger print scanner to log in.
- The user interface is slightly different compared to other Samsung tablets with the addition of Magazine UI for its home screens.
- The build quality is great and will remind you of the Galaxy S5.
Final Thoughts
Last week was hectic for Jamaican citizens to say the least.
You had the fear of Ebola hitting our shores and the joint pains of chick v terrorizing
our nation.
So if I say to you that Samsung also announced a promotion for the
day devices hit store shelves on October 24th. The first 100 people to buy the
Galaxy Note 4 at the Samsung Experience Store in Tropical plaza that day will
receive an $11,258 discount on their purchase. Also the first people to take a
"selfie" with the Galaxy Note 4 could walk away with gifts valued at
up to $11,137 while supplies last. Hoped
that eased the joint pains a bit.
