Project Octopath Traveler Release Date, Special Edition Announced

Square Enix made an appearance during today's Nintendo Direct to announce new details on its upcoming RPG Project Octopath Traveler, including its July 13 release date.

The game is getting a slick special edition, including a pop-up book emulating the style of the game and introducing all 8 characters and their places of origin, a map, "sound selection CD," and a coin based on the in-game currency.

Square Enix also introduced two new characters: Tressa the merchant and Alfyn the apothecary. Tressa's skill, purchase, let's her obtain special items from townsfolk while Alfyn can "worm out info" during conversations.

The job system was shown off during battles, as well. Each character has a base job and a second job, sort of like Bravely Default. The second job is equipped for use in battle and "expand your strategic options."
